When will I receive my delivery?
Depending on the time of year, how busy we are and your exact location, we aim to deliver your order within 7 days. If we think that your order may take a little longer, we will contact you to advise.
Is there any minimum order?
No, we value and appreciate all customers and the orders we receive.
How is the firewood delivered?
All of our deliveries are made by a member of our team, usually via our company Land Rover and crane trailer delivery system which has been in operation since 2008. Meaning that unlike some competitors, we can access remote locations and drop your order virtually anywhere you request it.
Is your firewood sustainably sourced?
Yes, Despite being a small business Southwest Firewood are striving towards being carbon neutral. We believe the responsible use of wood fuel is going to be vital as we tackle the climate crisis. In line with these aims we have changed the ways we operate our business to reduce the carbon footprint of each load as much as possible. Please visit our sustainability page for more information.
How should I store my firewood?
Your logs can be stored inside or out. They should be stored with good ventilation and protection from the weather, especially rain. They should be raised off the ground so that air can circulate underneath to keep the moisture content low.
What's the difference between softwood and hardwood?
Hardwood is denser than softwood and it burns hotter and for longer, so has a higher energy output, making it much more efficient by volume. Softwood is cheaper than hardwood but is less dense and burns faster.
Do you supply kindling?
Yes. Kindling is provided in net sack and can be delivered with your bag of logs. We supply kindling wood of various species force dried to sub 20% moisture, cut in small sticks 20cm long.
Do I have to return my vented bulk bag once I have used my logs?
No, but if you do return a used bag you can select the drop down option during checkout to receive £5 off your next order.
What do your vented bulk bags weigh?
We are not permitted to sell wood by it’s weight, as the wetter the heavier it is, so wood is sold by volume. A vented bulk bag has a volume of approximately 0.8 m3 and is filled to the brim.
